What is Verbal Judo?
 | Verbal Judo is a program designed for law
enforcement officers to help deal with verbal abuse |
 | It was founded by Doctor, Police Officer, and
Professor: George J. Thompson Ph.D |
 | Verbal Judo has been taught in over 700,000
Police Departments in the Country since 1981 |
 | It has been modified for children by George J.
Thompson and is now a part of our Karate School curriculum

The Importance of Anti-Bullying
Education:
 | Bullying is an ongoing problem in both U.S.
Schools and the World. It is NOT going away! |
 | All Children are at risk for Bullying. Even
children in Elementary School! |
 | Bullying is not done just at school, Cyber
Bullying is on the rise! |
 | Children who are bullied can have issues that
follow them to adulthood such as Depression, Anxiety
Disorders, Lack of Confidence/Assertiveness, Low
Self-Esteem, Problems Controlling Anger, Eating
Disorders, and even Self-Induced Isolation. |
 | Children who are bullied are at higher risk for
Suicide. |
 | Children who are bullied are more likely to Abuse
Alcohol and other Drugs in later life. |
 | Children who witness bulling are more likely to
smoke, drink, or abuse drugs. They are also at higher risk for
mental Illness. |
 | Bullying is an epidemic that can only be stopped
by education and prevention! |

At Risk Children:
 | Remember any child can be bullied! |
 | Children perceived as different from their peers
such as being overweight or underweight, wearing glasses or
different clothing, or being new to a school |
 | Are perceived as weak or defenseless |
 | Are depressed, anxious, or have low self-esteem |
 | Are less popular, shy, and have trouble making
friends |
 | Do not get along well with others, seen as
annoying or provoking |

Signs a Child is being Bullied:
 | Unexplained injuries or reluctance to show
injuries |
 | Lost or destroyed clothing, books, electronics,
or jewelry |
 | Frequent headaches/stomach aches and/or faking
illnesses |
 | Changes in eating habits, like binging or
skipping meals at school or at home |
 | Difficulty sleeping or frequent nightmares |
 | Declining grades |
 | Sudden loss of friends or avoidance of social
activities |
 | Feelings of helplessness or decreased self-esteem |
 | Self-destructive behaviors such as running away,
harming themselves or talking of suicide |
 | All Children are different and some may display
no symptoms at all |
 | Be involved in your child's school and with their
teachers so you can prevent bullying even if there are no signs |
