David Luginbill
Mr. Luginbill began his martial arts training in November of 1983 at the age of 12. Beginning with Wado-Kai karate, he trained until receiving his green belt, at which time his instructor moved out of town. He began his training in Tae Kwon Do-Moo Duk Kwon and earned his brown belt before his instructor stopped teaching. At age 18, he began his career as a martial arts instructor when he took over the Tae Kwon Do classes that his previous instructor had left behind at the local YMCA. A year later, he started teaching at L&L Martial Arts Studios where he also began his study in Shotokan karate. After a brief lay off, he eventually went on to earn his 1st dan black belt in Shotokan 13 years after his martial arts training began. Continuing his training, he went on to earn his 2nd dan a couple of years later. Following this achievement, he decided to head back to Tae Kwon Do where he finally made it to his current rank of 3rd dan black belt which he earned in 2009. 26 years later, Mr. Luginbill is still going strong. He is continuing to train in Tae Kwon Do and is currently enrolled in the Gracie University studying Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and working on earning his blue belt. Having achieved a black belt in two styles and having studied more than 10 different martial styles, Mr. Luginbill has also been an accomplished tournament competitor. Winning numerous AAU state championships in New Mexico and Illinois, he has also won a forms state championship in Texas. He was a member of the 1996 US World Cup Karate Team as well as a competitive player on the NBL,SKI and NASKA national and international tournament circuits during the late 90's. He is currently the head instructor of Texas Karate Do's Grapevine location. |
